Trending Now – Banquette Dining

Trendy is not a favorite word at Kimberley Harrison Interiors. While we are always in tune of trends across the interior and fashion industries, we believe in designing timeless spaces. We love how that puts our creativity to the test. We put great effort into infusing those on point details (that your friends will surely notice) in a way that will last. We believe, for the most part, that something should fall apart before it falls from design grace—keeping in mind, you always need to stay fresh.

Today, with less emphasis on formal living and dining, one of the design elements that is certainly trending is banquette dining. We are big fans of this casual concept for many reasons. First of all, when it comes to efficient use of space; you simply cannot beat it. Banquettes tuck away in a corner, against a wall or become part of your island—they help create more space. Whether you want more room in your kitchen for a big island or a built-in bar or extra square feet for a spacious great room, a banquette is a space saving solution. Opting for storage within the bench is a brilliant way to make this piece multifunctional, and of course you can fit more people on a bench than with dining chairs—so that’s a huge plus. The banquette is serving more than breakfast and dinner too – it doubles as a study area or remote workstation. And while it has a casual appeal, it can be perfectly appointed for formal dining.

Now for the aesthetics. Banquette design offers a very clean look, yet with so many choices in the details—the shape, wood or paint color, table options and cushion design. We relish the design possibilities—something can be created to meet any style. We definitely love this timeless trend.
